Balance of Delicate Things

In her debut poetry collection, Balance of Delicate Things, Peg Codding explores the experiences that change us. Her poems are testimony to the loving kindness needed to overcome trauma and challenges, offering a reflective stillness that speaks to the complexity of family, love, loss, and process. Codding also reveals her love for the peace and solitude of the West, especially Wyoming, where she has found healing and hope.

About Peg Codding

Peggy Codding, Ph.D, MT-BC (Board-Certified Music Therapist), incorporates music and movement across diverse clinical and classroom settings and actively researches the effect of music on behavior. She is Professor Emeritus from Berklee College of Music in Boston and served as Chair of Music Therapy at Ohio University. She is founder its’ graduate program. Codding has been an active member of the prestigious International Symposium for Research in Music Behavior since the 1980’s. Her clinical work has been directed toward medium/max security corrections for men, seniors, refugee survivors of abuse, and children with diverse needs, including those having visual impairment. She initiated the music therapy program at the Tennessee School for the Blind in Nashville. Her research is diverse and directed toward clinical processes.
Codding has been writing poetry for some time. She studied with the Community Literature Initiative in Los Angeles. Her debut collection, Balance of Delicate Things, was published in 2024, and her poems also appear in the anthology Welcoming the Muse: Meta and Other Forms curated by Twenty Bellows. Combining her passions, Codding taught Flo’ology – original poetry combined with live musical improvisation and movement – while at Berklee. Additionally, she is a certified Storyteller with Spellbinders®. These storytellers bring expressive classical and new stories to children to spur imagination. Codding continues to perform, write, and present in a variety of settings.
